Horror Leggings

I remember vividly that someday in my childhood, i wandered into my mother's closets like how all little girls do in search of a beautiful frock to play 'dress- up'. Then, i pulled out a pair of long stretchy thing in dark green. Something in between a stocking and a pair of pants, with these strap that went under your feet.

Naively, i spent half the day trying to figure out where it was supposed to go and finally, exclaimed with a remark "Eeeee- erh... so ugly!". I never saw that 'thing' again and I supposed my mother too knew it as a fashion mistake she made when it was all in the rage back in god knows when.

Yet suddenly, one day I woke up, and as if it was a fashion nightmare come true, everyone seemed to be donning leggings.

Black, white, lace, polka dotted neon... ... any sort you could imagine.

A bold invention by Balenciaga-- Gold Leggings

And I'm not talking about those pretty young girls with modelish legs in leggings. That of course, looks at least decent. I'm talking about forty or fifty year olds with elephant thighs or some trotter wadding out in some atrocious hot pink polka dotted leggings.

To worsen the matter, some people actually foolishly think that leggings can double up as pants and gladly wear it out with merely a short top or t-shirt. All i can say is please pardon innocent bystanders from the sight of your enormous butt wrapped until like 'ba zhang' by the tights along with the deep panty line underneath. Where has decency gone to?

Furthermore, Asians are naturally borne with shorter legs and do not enjoy the privilege of being borne with never ending gams. So with leggings that end somewhere below the knee or mid- thigh, our legs looks as if it is chopped and makes us look even shorter and stubbier than ever.

Tights on men.0_0 Can we scream NO!!!! any louder?

However, all's not lost for this city as stockings are here to save the day!

Now coming back in fashion as the leggings facade starts to fade are stockings. Not just the usual opaque stockings that we wear to the office but non- opaque stockings in black, electric blue, pink and all other patterns.

This not only allows us to spice up our boring summer all year round fashion, it also looks good on almost everybody. Instead of cutting our legs and shortening it, stockings make them look even longer and slimmer especially black stockings that are all in the rage now.

Models sporting the many variations we can do with stockings on the runway.

But a few things we must note about these black stockings

1. It should/MUST be worn with covered shoes ie boots, booties, pumps, stilettos etc
2. people with not so slender legs should stick to DARK coloured stockings and leave the neon pink to after your diet.
3. NO you may not wear it as pants! Stockings should be worn with a skirt, dress or a long top long enough to cover your butt. In other words, anything you can otherwise wear without stockings.

A few weeks ago a saw this girl in black stockings paired with a men's shirt and a waist belt. She had a fabulous figure and gorgeous to-die- for legs by Asian standards. However, that men's shirt combination together with the stockings was just... hookerish. So having a great figure does not give you excuse to dress as you please.

Cool stockings with stripes. Preferably for those with long skinny legs or you'll end up looking very much like a zebra.

Dressier stockings like these should only be donned by those with a spunky attitude and with a very basic top.

So throw out those hideous leggings and embrace the era of stockings again.

Flower Fashion

Spring is here and what better way to enter this gorgeous season that bringing back the florals.

And for the first in many seasons, florals are back. Its no longer a crime to step out looking like a bouquet, and dig out that sunflower dress you bought when you were out of your mind!

But of course, not all types of florals suit everyone. Some people may end up looking a little overwhelmed by the flowers. Of course, these attention seeking floral prints may also end up attracting attention to the wrong parts of your body.

For example, for pear shaped ladies, stay away from floral skirts or dresses with floral prints only on the lower half. Instead, go for dresses with floral print on the top half or go for a floral top and plain bottoms.

But for those lucky ones that are petite or slim, shout hurray. Florals are perfect as they tend to create illusion of a larger frame especially tiny florals.

And for women with larger frames. No fret! By choosing the appropriate shape and design, florals can be flattering and not fattening.

Sandra Bullock, Amerie and JLo shows you don't have to be stick thin to look pretty and feminine in florals.

So ladies on the street, stop worrying and embrace this latest season of flowers but only by choosing the right flowers for yourself.

To kick start the brand new 2008, I decided to inject a new boost of energy into my life by devoting some time into my longtime passion-- Fashion.

Welcome to my brand new fashion blog and while I may not be the most qualified person to comment on fashion or the latest trends, I'll still like to give my little input to make this world a much fashion crimeless place to live in. Hopefully, you get some laughter from reading this too.
